Prayer request.....
Some dear friends of ours had a little girl about 7 weeks ago, and she is currently in the hospital with salmonella. They aren't sure how she got it, and the dr has said it is likely they'll never know. Their sweet little girl is acting fine -- eating and being alert as normal, but this is very serious for such a young baby. Last I heard they were awaiting some test results to find out if the antibiotic was working or not. If they were, she would get to go home soon with an oral antibiotic.........if not, they would have to stay in the hospital another 7-10 days while trying another one. Please pray for the entire family, as it's a stressful time no matter what age your child, but even more so with a young baby.

I will keep this little one in prayer. I know firsthand how serious it is. My ds2 had salmonella and we have no clue how he got it either. His pediatrician said it was likely a case of someone ahead of us at a grocery store had an item on the conveyor belt that was contaminated and when we placed our items on the belt then it got onto something we purchased. There's no way to ever know. We were terrified as he is small for his age anyway.
Our pediatrician didn't treat with antibiotics. She said they had found it only prolonged the healing process. I would imagine in this little one's case that it would be necessary due to her extremely young age.
